Associate Manager, Paid Media & Search

Summary

Responsible for planning and managing Dermalogica.com's organic and paid search presence across traditional search engines, AI/answer engines, and YouTube. This role drives new customer acquisition and revenue growth by owning SEO and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) strategy, Paid Search campaigns, and YouTube media — ensuring Dermalogica is discoverable and compelling wherever customers search, ask, and watch.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and support the SEO strategy for Dermalogica.com — technical, on-page, and content — identifying opportunities to improve organic rankings, site health, and non-branded visibility.
  • Build and execute an AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) strategy to grow Dermalogica's presence in AI-generated answers and AI search surfaces (Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini), including structured data, content formatting, and citation-worthy assets.
  • Develop and manage Paid Search strategy across platforms, identifying areas of improvement and implementing best practices; partner with the Paid Search agency to execute and optimize campaigns.
  • Plan, launch, and optimize YouTube campaigns across the funnel (awareness through conversion), including audience strategy, creative testing, and performance optimization.
  • Perform ongoing keyword discovery, expansion, and optimization across paid and organic, staying ahead of industry, search behavior, and competitive trends.
  • Produce detailed analysis of SEO, AEO, Paid Search, and YouTube performance, extracting key learnings to inform strategy on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
  • Partner closely with internal and external cross-functional teams (content, creative, web, and agency partners) on overlapping search and video initiatives.
  • Support creative project management between internal teams, including contributing to new creative workflow processes for search and video assets.
  • Monitor competitor activity across search, AI/answer engines, and YouTube, and assess potential impact to our strategy.
  • Manage channel budgets and the billing process across paid search and YouTube.

Education and/or Experience

BA/BS preferred. 1–3 years of digital marketing experience, ideally spanning SEO and paid search (SEM). Hands-on experience with organic search, video, or AI search optimization strongly preferred. Agency setting highly preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with search, video, and e-commerce platforms (Google Analytics/GA4, Google Ads, Google Search Console, YouTube, Bing; SEO / AEO tools such as Semrush and Profound a plus; FBIG and TikTok a plus).
  • Working knowledge of SEO best practices, structured data/schema, and emerging AEO/AI-search tactics.
  • Understanding of YouTube advertising and video optimization.
  • Creative mindset, in the know on beauty trends.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; quickly identifies and works through obstacles.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Superior execution abilities; prioritizes, plans, and delivers against goals and objectives.
  • Innovative; displays original thinking, meets challenges with resourcefulness and positivity.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Project management tools a plus (Asana, Wrike).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to learn required business systems.

The expected base salary range for this position is $75K to $85K. The exact base salary is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, and budget. This position is also eligible for participation in the company discretionary bonus plan, based on personal performance and company results.

The role will be based out of the corporate headquarters in Carson, Los Angeles. It will be hybrid with applicable on site work guidelines.
