Senior Production Designer — Global Creative Team

Who We Are

At Dermalogica, we’re more than just a skincare brand—we’re industry leaders driven by innovation, education, and a passion for results. With distribution in over 90 countries and the backing of Unilever, we combine entrepreneurial spirit with cutting-edge resources to bring top-tier skincare to professionals and consumers alike. Guided by the International Dermal Institute—our authority in skin therapy education—we are elevating our creative and packaging excellence globally. If you thrive in a detail-driven, fast-paced environment where precision and craftsmanship matter, this role is for you.

What You Will Do

The Senior Production Designer is the technical owner and final quality gate for all packaging, print, and production-ready assets across the brand. This is a senior, hands-on role responsible for ensuring every file that leaves the creative team is accurate, compliant, on-brand, and ready for flawless execution.

You will lead all packaging production internally, oversee our packaging production freelancer, and serve as the subject-matter expert for print workflows, mechanical builds, and production standards—while also supporting digital production and render application as needed.

Focus

  • Own all packaging production from design handoff through print release
  • Ensure flawless execution across packaging, retail, and digital assets
  • Act as a final QA authority before files go to vendors
  • Maintain and evolve packaging and production standards for the brand

Key Responsibilities

Packaging & Print Production (Primary Focus)

  • Own all packaging mechanicals, dielines, ingredient layouts, regulatory lockups, and SKU extensions
  • Build print-ready files for cartons, bottles, tubes, kits, gift sets, and specialty formats
  • Apply artwork accurately to dielines and packaging templates
  • Conduct rigorous preflight checks (type, specs, slugs, PMS, bleeds, regulatory)
  • Partner with printers and vendors; support press checks and color approvals (occasional travel)
  • Support the team with graphic design (i.e., print, digital) as needed
  • Print, cut, mount, and assemble physical comps and mockups for reviews and approvals

Photoshop, Renders & Visual Production

  • Retouch and refine packaging artwork, renders, and digital assets in Photoshop
  • Apply packaging artwork to 2D and 3D carton/product renders for e-commerce and campaign use
  • Support final asset polish for photography, PDPs, and marketing visuals
  • Bonus: assist with or build basic 3D render workflows in collaboration with designers

Digital Production

  • Build and resize production-ready assets for PDPs, emails, banners, paid media, and global toolkits
  • Ensure digital assets meet all channel specs and are delivered accurately and on time

Workflow Ownership & Leadership

  • Maintain and update Packaging Guidelines and production standards
  • Own file organization, naming conventions, and version control across Widen / Dropbox
  • Partner with Marketing, Ops, Regulatory, R&D, and Supply Chain to ensure alignment
  • Manage and QC work from the Packaging Production Freelancer to expand capacity during heavy SKU periods

What You Will Bring

Key Qualifications

  • 7+ years of production art / production design experience, ideally in beauty, CPG, or premium consumer brands
  • Deep expertise in packaging production, mechanical builds, dielines, prepress, and print workflows
  • Proven ability to manage complex global SKU systems with precision
  • Experience owning production end-to-end, not just executing assigned files

Core Skills

  • Expert Adobe Illustrator & InDesign
  • Expert Photoshop (retouching, compositing, render application)
  • Strong typography, layout, hierarchy, and brand consistency instincts
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to deliver error-free files at scale
  • Highly organized, process-driven, and comfortable operating independently
  • Confident communicator with vendors and cross-functional partners

What You Will Deliver

• Protects the brand through expert accuracy and production rigor
• Prevents costly reprints and production errors
• Enables Dermalogica to scale packaging and production work in-house
• Stabilizes workflows and expands capacity by managing freelance support

Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)

• Experience applying artwork to 3D renders (cartons, bottles, kits)
• Familiarity with Solidworks, KeyShot, or render workflows
• Experience with Wrike, Widen, or DAM systems
• Interest in beauty, skincare, or wellness
